The Division makes necessary arrangements with the assistance of the Sri Lankan Missions abroad to repatriate the human remains of Sri Lankans to Sri Lanka or bury/cremate the human remains abroad in accordance with the wishes of the next of kin.
Guide lines for death cases of Sri Lankans abroad
Consular division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs assists Sri Lankans to repatriate the human remains of Sri Lankans to Sri Lanka or bury/cremate the human remains abroad in accordance with the wishes of the NOKK.[Next Of Kins]
Once you come to know a death of NOK, you should inform the consular division if you are in Sri Lanka or if you are abroad to the nearest Sri Lankan Embassy / Consulate or Hony. Consul.
If you are reporting the death to the consular division, you may utilize the complaint form available at the division. Anyone can inform the death but you should be able to furnish sufficient information which will be useful to locate the death and NOK [Next Of Kin].
NOKK wishes should be informed to the division in an affidavit whether to dispatch or bury/cremate abroad. This information will be faxed to the relevant Sri Lankan Embassy/Consulate immediately.
Human remains will only be dispatched / buried / cremated on completion of investigation and formalities.
