When Sri Lankan fishing vessels drift/poach in the territorial waters of other countries are detained by the naval or coastal authorities of the respective countries, the Consular Division intervenes through the Missions, in order to secure the release of the vessels and the crew. The Division also closely liaises with the Ministry of Fisheries.
